To the sons of Amir, from me, and the sons of Saʿsaʿ:

Send word to Banu 'Amir and the sons of Sa'sa'

نَبَتُّمْ نَبَاتَ الخَيْزُرَانِيّ فِي الثَّرَى

نَبَتُّمْ نَبَاتَ الخَيْزُرَانِيّ فِي الثَّرَى

حَدِيثاً مَتَى مَا يَأتِكَ الخَيْرُ يَنْفَعِ

حَدِيثاً مَتَى مَا يَأتِكَ الخَيْرُ يَنْفَعِ

You have grown like bamboo in the moist earth,

We sprouted in the earth like chicory

Recently; whenever good comes to you, it benefits you.

Still fresh when good fortune comes to avail
