أَرارَmay melt اللَهُGod مُخَّكَyour marrow فيin السُّلامىthe small joint bones
عَلىfor مَنwhom بِالحِنينِwith yearning cries تُعَوِّلِيناyou wail
May God melt the marrow in your joint bones.
For whom do you wail with longing?
فَلَستِfor you are not وَإِنand even if حَنَنتِyou moaned in longing أَشدَّmore intense شوقاًin longing
وَلكِنِّيbut I أُسِرُّI conceal it وَتُعلِنيناand you proclaim it
For, though you moan, your longing is no greater;
but I conceal it, while you proclaim it.
وَبيand within me مِثلُthe same as الَّذيwhat بِكِis within you غَيرَexcept أَنّيthat I
أَجلُّmore exalted عَنbeyond العِقالِthe hobble وَتُعقَليناand you are hobbled
And I feel the same as you, except that I
am above being hobbled, while you are hobbled.
