Ah, the tribe’s dwellings, between Muḥajjar

And the side of al-Qamrā, as though unchanged.

You stood there, satisfying no longing,

Nor does despair heal the need of one who remembers.

Ah, you who weep over what burdens you,

Bear with dignity what time brings, and be patient.

An apparition of Umaymah visited me late at night,

Coming by night, while my companions were at Dārat Khanzar.

When the two climbed onto the bed, above them rose

The wafting, sweet scent of musk and ambergris.

So if you are not content with what has come,

Then, if you have an objection, object.
