هذي السعادة قد قامت على قدم

هذي السعادة قد قامت على قدم

وقد جلست لها في مجلس الكرم

وقد جلست لها في مجلس الكرم

This good fortune has indeed risen to its feet,

This happiness has risen on one foot

And I have taken my seat for it in generosity’s assembly.

And settled for it in the abode of generosity

فإن أردت إلهي في الورى حسناً

فإن أردت إلهي في الورى حسناً

فملكني زمام الدهر والأمم

فملكني زمام الدهر والأمم

If You desire goodness among humankind, my God,

So if you want goodness for me in this life, my God

Then give me the reins of time and nations.

Then grant me control over time and nations

فإنني لا عدلت الدهر عن حسن

فإنني لا عدلت الدهر عن حسن

ولا عدلت بهم عن أكرم الشيم

ولا عدلت بهم عن أكرم الشيم

For I shall never, throughout time, turn aside from goodness,

For if time swerved from goodness

Nor turn them away from the noblest virtues.

And swerved from the most honorable traits

أقارع الدهر عنهم كل ذي طلب

أقارع الدهر عنهم كل ذي طلب

واطرد الدهر عنهم كل ذي عدم

واطرد الدهر عنهم كل ذي عدم

I forever contend on their behalf with every claimant,

I would contend with time over them all who seek

And forever drive away from them every man in want.

And drive time away from them, all that lacks
