لئِنْeven if ضاقتْgrew constrained بيَwith me الأيامُthe days ذَرْعاًin capacity to endure
لئِنْ ضاقتْ بيَ الأيامُ ذَرْعاً
فصبرِيthen my patience مُذْهِبٌdispelling ماas long as عِشْتُI live كَرْبِيmy anguish
فصبرِي مُذْهِبٌ ما عِشْتُ كَرْبِي
Even if the days grow weary of me,
Though days have hemmed me in with woes,
my patience will dispel my anguish as long as I live.
Still will I meet my fate with calm;
خَلَصْتُI have freed myself منfrom الأمانيthe desires فيin حياتيmy life
خَلَصْتُ من الأماني في حياتي
فأرجُوso I hope فيat مَماتيmy death عَفْوَpardon رَبِّيmy Lord
فأرجُو في مَماتي عَفْوَ رَبِّي
I have freed myself from desires in my lifetime,
I have not lived this life in vain,
so I hope for my Lord’s pardon at my death.
My Lord! I pray Thee, pardon me.
