خَطَّ الجَمالُ صَفحَتَي خَدِّهِ

وَدَبَّجَ الصُدغَينِ وَالغُرَّه

وَدَبَّجَ الصُدغَينِ وَالغُرَّه

Beauty inscribed both pages of his cheeks,

and embroidered his temples and brow;

كَأَنَّما أَغفَلَ بَعضَ الَّذي

كَأَنَّما أَغفَلَ بَعضَ الَّذي

يَخُطُّ فَاسَتلحَقَهُ طُرَّه

يَخُطُّ فَاسَتلحَقَهُ طُرَّه

as though it had omitted some of what

it was writing, then appended it as a forelock.
