    We went out to hunt gazelles, but I was hunted

    there by a gazelle with large, deep-black eyes and strikingly clear whites.

    A gazelle, as though the full moon had settled upon his brow,

    and on his cheek radiant Sirius shines.

    وسهمُ غزالِ الإنسِ طرفٌ ومِحجَرُ

    So he captured my heart when he shot me with his arrow;

    and a human gazelle's arrow is a glance and an eye socket.

    Oh, who has seen a gazelle hunting, and who has seen

    a hunter hunted by force and subdued?
