كلُّ عيشٍ وإن تطاول يوماً

كلُّ عيشٍ وإن تطاول يوماً

صائرٌ مرةً إلى أن يزولا

Every life, however long it lasts, one day

However long this life may last,

is destined, at some point, to pass away.

One day it too shall pass.

ليتني كُنتُ قَبلَ يوميَ هذا

ليتني كُنتُ قَبلَ يوميَ هذا

في قلالِ الجبالِ أرعى الوُعولا

في قلالِ الجبالِ أرعى الوُعولا

If only I had been, before this day of mine,

Would that before this day I’d been

on the mountain summits, tending the ibexes.
