وأبيضَ أمَّا جسمُهُ فَمُدَوَّرٌ

وأبيضَ أمَّا جسمُهُ فَمُدَوَّرٌ

نَقيٌّ وأما رأسهُ فمُعارُ

نَقيٌّ وأما رأسهُ فمُعارُ

And a white thing—its body is round,

His body is white, well rounded,

Pure; and as for its head, it is borrowed.

Pure, and his head uncovered.

ولك يكتَسِب إلا لتسكُنَ وسَطه

ولك يكتَسِب إلا لتسكُنَ وسَطه

مؤَنّثة لم تُكسَ قطُّ خِمارُ

مؤَنّثة لم تُكسَ قطُّ خِمارُ

And for you one acquires it only so that within it may dwell

He lures only so she may rest within,

A feminine one who has never been clothed in a veil.

A maiden never veiled.

لها أخواتٌ أربعٌ هُنَّ مِثلُها

لها أخواتٌ أربعٌ هُنَّ مِثلُها

ولكنَّها الصُغرى وهُنَّ كبارُ

ولكنَّها الصُغرى وهُنَّ كبارُ

She has four sisters who are like her,

Four sisters has she, all like her,

But she is the smallest, and they are large.

But she's the youngest, they are elders.
