إِنَّ اليَمامَةَ شَرُّ ساكِنِها

أَهلُ القَرِيَّةِ مِن بَني ذُهلِ

أَهلُ القَرِيَّةِ مِن بَني ذُهلِ

Indeed, the worst inhabitants of al-Yamama

Indeed, the worst inhabitants of al-Yamamah

are the people of al-Qariyya, of the clan of Dhuhl—

are the people of al-Qariyyah, of Banu Dhuhl.

قَومٌ أَبارَ اللَهُ سادَتَهُم

قَومٌ أَبارَ اللَهُ سادَتَهُم

فَشَريدُهُم كَالقُمَّلِ الطَحلِ

فَشَريدُهُم كَالقُمَّلِ الطَحلِ

a people whose chiefs God has annihilated,

A people whose chiefs God has annihilated;

leaving their scattered remnant like black lice.

so their fugitives are like dark-gray lice.
