لَقَد ضَلَّ حِلمي في خَليدَةَ ضَلَّةٍ

لَقَد ضَلَّ حِلمي في خَليدَةَ ضَلَّةٍ

سَأُعتِبُ قَومي بَعدَها وَأَتوبُ

سَأُعتِبُ قَومي بَعدَها وَأَتوبُ

Indeed, my judgment went badly astray concerning Khalīda.

My wisdom has surely gone astray in a deep delusion

I shall make amends to my people after that, and repent.

I will blame my people for it afterwards and repent

وَأَشهَدُ وَالمُستَغفَرُ اللَهُ أَنَّني

وَأَشهَدُ وَالمُستَغفَرُ اللَهُ أَنَّني

كَذَبتُ عَلَيها وَالهِجاءُ كَذوبُ

كَذَبتُ عَلَيها وَالهِجاءُ كَذوبُ

And I testify—God is the one whose forgiveness is sought—that I

And I testify, and Allah is the one asked for forgiveness, that

Lied about her, and satire is full of lies.

I have told lies about her, and defamation is lies
