Your giving adorns a man, if you favor him
Your gift adorns no man if you grant it
Your bounty is an adornment for a man if you bestow it well, for not every gift adorns,
with kindness; not all giving adorns.
With kindness, yet not all gifts adorn.
Nor is it shameful for a man to humble his face before you, though some requests bring disgrace.

No shame to a man offering his face
before you, as some begging brings shame.
To you, though some requests bring scorn.
