ياO لَلرجالmen (appealed to for help) لصَبوةbecause of the infatuation of العُميانِthe blind
يا لَلرجال لصَبوة العُميانِ
She said, the morning I met her, 'Are you mocking me?
She said, "Do you mock me?" the morning I met her,
O men, what infatuation the blind have!'
"Oh men, behold the passion of the blind!"
فأجبتهاso I answered her نَفسيmy soul فداؤكِa ransom for you إِنَّماit is only that
فأجبتها نَفسي فداؤكِ إِنَّما
أُذنيmy ear وَعَينيand my eye فيin الهَوىlove سِيّانare alike
أُذني وَعَيني في الهَوى سِيّان
So I answered her, 'My soul be your ransom! It is just that
So I answered her, "May my soul be your ransom; truly,
My ear and my eye are alike in love.'
My ear and my eye are equals in love."
