For if my eye's light has gone out,
If the light of my eye has indeed been extinguished,
then many an eye's light has gone out before it.
For how often before has the light of an eye been extinguished.
فَلَمyet ... not يعمَgo blind قَلبيmy heart وَلَكِنَّماbut rather

Yet my heart has not gone blind; rather,
Yet my heart has not gone blind; rather,
I see my eye's light has flowed into it.
I perceive the light of my eye has traveled into it,

فأسرج فيه إِلى نوره

سراحاً مِن العلمَ يَشفي العمى
So there, alongside its light, it kindled
Kindling within it, to join its inner radiance,
a lamp of knowledge that heals blindness.
A lamp of knowledge that cures all blindness.
