أتَتنا بليلٍ والنجومُ كأنَّها
قلادةُa necklace جَزعٍof onyx حُلَّwas untied منهاfrom it نظامُهاits string
قلادةُ جَزعٍ حُلَّ منها نظامُها
She came to us by night, and the stars were like
She came to me at night, and the stars were like
a necklace of onyx whose string had been untied.
A necklace whose clasp had come undone, letting the pearls slip from it.
فماso not برحتshe left حتىuntil حللتُI untied إزارَهاher waist-wrap
فما برحت حتى حللتُ إزارَها
وقَبَّلتُهاand I kissed her عشراًten times وقلَّand diminished احتشامُهاher bashfulness
وقَبَّلتُها عشراً وقلَّ احتشامُها
So she did not leave until I untied her waist-wrap,
I did not stop until I had undone her sash
and I kissed her ten times, and her bashfulness waned.
And kissed her ten times, while her modesty diminished.
