O night, endure for me; I do not want morning.

The face of the one embracing me is lamp enough for me.

He is full moon enough for me, and his saliva

Wine enough; his cheek is apple enough for me.

His smile suffices me when I woo him,

With no need for any star that shines.

I clothed him in a sash-like collar with my forearm,

And made my palm a sash for kissing.

This is the great bounty, so leave us

Embracing one another, for we want no parting.

If our embrace were in God's sanctuary,

And our kissing too, that would be no sin.

If my Lord had wished His servants to be chaste,

He would not have created beautiful people among humankind.
