بالوعد من كثرت في وعده العِلَلُ
It is as though I have ailments, judging by how he soothes them
As if I have the excuses that she excused herself with
With promises—he whose promises abound in excuses.
From the promises, as the excuses in her promises were many

إذا تورَّد لي في خدِّه الخَجَلُ
It is as though I feel bashful before him, in awe of him,
As if I have shyness from him, from his awe
When bashfulness turns rosy for me upon his cheek.
When the shyness blushes on his cheek
