I would ransom you, fickle yet affectionate one,
I ransom you from a worn out, thousand-fold melancholy,
who tamed me with reassurance and intimidation.
Content with security and intimidation.

You find fault unfairly, and we suffer every misery;
You reap benefits so we are in every misery,
then you are pleased, and we enjoy every comfort.
Then you are content so we are in every meadow.

You wrong me at times, and at times act
You reap benefits from me sometimes and other times,
in my favor, between indulgence and harsh rebuke.
While I waver between entertainment and rebuke.

My judgment is bewildered by your rule, unjust yet just,
My judgment is confused regarding your unjust rule
and by your form, majestic yet delicate.
And your magnificent, gentle nature.

Unclothed, you are light; and yet
You are light when stripped bare but
clothed, you are like one worn thin.
When clothed you are like a hollow interior.

It was not by choice that I described you; rather,
Not out of preference have I described you, but
movements revealed the one described.
Movements revealed the described.

Movements bearing witness to hidden things,
Movements are witnesses to hidden faults,
so in them, what is covered is as though exposed.
So the covered among them is like the exposed.

You sway gracefully; the surge is a warning cry,
You sway so the wave is a warning sound,
and you bend; your leaning is a frail thing's lean.
And you bend so the inclination is the bend of a branch.

With your waist and your girdled hips, you evoke
You convey with your waistband and wrap
the sting of longing in a feeble heart.
The sting of passion in the weak heart.

For the fullness of one and the slenderness of the other,
So for this affection and that precision,
you are in two states: heavy and light.
You are burdensome or easy in my states.

You have a face like the full moon, yet free
You have a face like the full moon but innocent
from waning into darkness, absence, or eclipse;
Of any defects, absence or eclipse.

And a mouth like the seal of beauty adorned
with a sweet smile and graceful speech.
With a sweet smile and gentle speech.

Life's delight was gathered in you, but
The pleasures of life are gathered in you, but
death's weaponry barred the way to it:
Without them, the weapons of separation are ready.

well-aimed glances, like arrows,
Moments are intentions like arrows
from eyelids that cut like swords.
From the eyelids of decisive executioners like swords.
