Whenever the heart becomes desolate?

إذا ما سَهِدَ القلبُ

فإن القلبَ يستعدي

فإن القلبَ يستعدي

When the heart lies sleepless,

For when the heart grieves, the eyes lament,

Then the heart calls for help.

And none complains of what befalls him

وما يشكو الذي يلقا

وما يشكو الذي يلقا

ه إلا من ورا جهدِ

Nor does it complain of what it suffers

Except after exertion and effort.

Except after great strain.

Oh, would that you were in my heart!

فيا ليتك في قلبي
