O Umm Amr, will you not weep, wailing aloud,

for your brother, whose death the herald has already proclaimed aloud?

So weep, and do not weary of lamentation, clad in mourning,

for your brother, lofty in ambition and mighty in reach.

For you have been bereaved of a man blessed in nature,

rich in resource, mighty to harm and to help.

Who, then, if we have lost him and he has left us, will provide us

with a chief, a staunch defender at the people's rear?

Indeed, he was our chief, who summoned his clan.

May you never perish—for you were a fine chief who summoned!
