The day of separation is not counted in my lifetime,

Nor is parting reckoned part of my life.

I have not forgotten the comfort of your company, when we were united,

And my life was embroidered and gilded.

I did not choose separation from you, but time brought,

Against my will, what I do not love, O beloved.

I hope to return to you victorious and in haste,

For I have found success with Najm al-Din Ayyub.

Sound in judgment, firm in resolve, exalted

In glory above non-Arabs and Bedouin Arabs.

God has loved you, for you have held fast to His aid,

With a brow encircled by the crown of kingship.

Your brother and your son have both sincerely sought refuge

In God; and victory is a promise never belied.

They are two champions on days of battle and hospitality,

Accustomed to striking heads or hocks.

    بلفحها يُصبحُ الشبّانُ كالشِّيبِ

    Tomorrow they will kindle the fire of battle among the unbelievers;

In its scorching blast, young men become like the gray-haired.

With dominion over Egypt and victory for the believers tomorrow,

Souls will enjoy comfort and gladness.

And Yusuf will settle in Egypt, and through him

Yaqub's eye will be cooled with joy after their separation.

And Yusuf will meet his brothers there,

And God will bring them together without reproach.

So hope in God, for soon, through His aid,

God will lift the affliction of everyone in distress.
