O Yusuf of beauty and beneficence, O king,

rising through his good fortune while his enemies have fallen.

You have taken an honored place at the heart of the heights,

and the sun occupies the middle place among its spheres.

Congratulations on defending Damietta, against which gathered

the Franks, yet they neither loosed nor bound.

Egypt has become ennobled through her Yusuf,

and every affair of hers is ordered by justice.

And when Salah al-Din arrived, he set her right,

so his days set a pattern for the common good.
