جامعُ الشّمْلِ بعدَ طولِ الفراقِ

للمحبيّن كافلٌ بالتلاقِ

للمحبيّن كافلٌ بالتلاقِ

He who reunites those parted after long separation

The reunion after long separation

guarantees reunion to lovers.

Brings the lovers together again

ولعلَّ الأيامَ تسمَحُ بالوص

ولعلَّ الأيامَ تسمَحُ بالوص

لِ ونَقضي لُبانةَ المشتاقِ

لِ ونَقضي لُبانةَ المشتاقِ

And perhaps the days will grant union,

Perhaps the days will allow us to meet

and we shall fulfill the yearning lover’s desire.

And fulfill the longing of yearning souls

يا أَخلائي الكرامَ المضاهي

يا أَخلائي الكرامَ المضاهي

نَ بطيبِ العُروقِ طيبَ العِراقِ

نَ بطيبِ العُروقِ طيبَ العِراقِ

O my noble friends, who rival

My noble brothers, your kindness surpasses

the goodness of Iraq with the goodness of your roots,

The sweetness of Iraq's pure spirit

يا صبوراً على الصّبابةِ بعدي

يا صبوراً على الصّبابةِ بعدي

لكَ طولُ البقاءِ ما أَنا باقِ

لكَ طولُ البقاءِ ما أَنا باقِ

O you who patiently endure passionate longing in my absence,

You endured separation after I left

may you live long, as long as I live.

May you live long while I am no more

فأجرْني من النّوى بالتلاقي

فأجرْني من النّوى بالتلاقي

وارثِ لي إذ لاقيتَ ما أَنا لاق

وارثِ لي إذ لاقيتَ ما أَنا لاق

So protect me from separation through reunion,

Save me from pining with a reunion

and pity me, since you have faced what I face.

And inherit what I have when we meet
