أصدوداً ولم يَصُدُّ التصابي

أصدوداً ولم يَصُدُّ التصابي

ونفاراً ولم يَرُعْكَ المشيبُ

ونفاراً ولم يَرُعْكَ المشيبُ

Do you turn away, though youthful dalliance has not ceased?

Passionately in love, yet love's not returned,

And recoil, though gray hair has not alarmed you?

Wandering aimlessly, yet age does not warn,

وكتابُ الشّباب لم يطوه الشي

وكتابُ الشّباب لم يطوه الشي

بُ ولا مَسَّ نقشَةُ التَشْريبُ

بُ ولا مَسَّ نقشَةُ التَشْريبُ

And the book of youth has not been folded shut by gray

The book of youth is still unstained by time,

hair, nor has mottling touched its inscription.

Its handwriting untouched by life's sips of wine.
