بَكَرَتْcame at dawn عَلَيْكَupon you فَهَيَّجَتْand so stirred وَجْدَاlonging
بَكَرَتْ عَلَيْكَ فَهَيَّجَتْ وَجْدَا
هُوجُwild الرِّياحِthe winds وأذْكَرَتْand brought to mind نَجْدَاNajd
هُوجُ الرِّياحِ وأذْكَرَتْ نَجْدَا
They came upon you at dawn and stirred longing—
She rose early and stirred up a passion,
the wild winds—and brought Najd to mind.
The violent winds and reminded of Najd,
أَتَحِنُّdo you yearn? مِنْfrom شَوْقٍlonging إذاwhen ذُكِرَتْis mentioned
أَتَحِنُّ مِنْ شَوْقٍ إذا ذُكِرَتْ
نَجْدٌNajd وأَنْتَwhile you تَرَكْتَهاyou left it عَمْدَاdeliberately
نَجْدٌ وأَنْتَ تَرَكْتَها عَمْدَا
Do you pine with longing when it is mentioned—
I yearn with longing whenever Najd is mentioned,
Najd—though you left it deliberately?
And you left it intentionally.
