جَزىmay reward العَذراءَthe maiden عَنّاon our behalf اللَهُGod خَيراًwith good
جَزى العَذراءَ عَنّا اللَهُ خَيراً
فَقَدfor indeed أَغنَتshe has removed the need عَنِfor الحَبلِthe rope الخَذيمِworn-out
فَقَد أَغنَت عَنِ الحَبلِ الخَذيمِ
May God reward the maiden well on our behalf,
for she has spared us the worn-out rope.
إِذاwhen نَشَرَتshe spreads ذَوائِبَهاher tresses بُكوراًearly in the morning
إِذا نَشَرَت ذَوائِبَها بُكوراً
رَمَتshe casts بِالوَفرِwith abundance فيinto نَحرِthe bosom of العَديمِthe destitute man
رَمَت بِالوَفرِ في نَحرِ العَديمِ
When she spreads her tresses early in the morning,
she casts abundance into the destitute man's bosom.
