A land that Shem chose and made his home,
And founded Ghumdan there after he had dug
أمmother of العيونthe springs فلاso no عينspring تقدمهاpreceded it
أم العيون فلا عين تقدمها
ولاnor علاrose above حجرa stone منfrom قبلهاbefore it حجراanother stone
ولا علا حجر من قبلها حجرا
The mother of springs—no spring preceded it,
Nor before it had one stone risen upon another.
لاnot القيظthe summer heat يكملcompletes فيهاin it فصلthe span ساعتهof its hour
لا القيظ يكمل فيها فصل ساعته
ولاnor الشتاءwinter يمسيهاcomes upon it at dusk إذاwhen قصراit grows short
ولا الشتاء يمسيها إذا قصرا
Summer heat never completes its allotted span there,
Nor does winter come upon it at dusk when it grows short.
