إن طلبتَ الإنجابَ فانكِحْ غَريباً

إن طلبتَ الإنجابَ فانكِحْ غَريباً

وإلى الأقربينَ لا تَتَوسّلْ

وإلى الأقربينَ لا تَتَوسّلْ

If you seek fine offspring, marry an outsider;

If you seek fertility, marry a stranger,

And do not seek a match among close relatives.

And plead not with your kin,

فأشفُّ الثِّمارِ طيباً وحُسناً

ثَمرٌ غصنُهُ غريبٌ مُوَصّلْ

ثَمرٌ غصنُهُ غريبٌ مُوَصّلْ

For the finest of fruits in flavor and beauty

For the finest, fairest fruit,

Is fruit whose branch is foreign, grafted on.

Comes from a grafted foreign limb.
