والمُستعانُand the one whose aid is sought علىagainst هجرانهِhis desertion اللهُGod
And a young gazelle loves me not, yet I love him.
My longing does not make me weak, though it pains me,
And God is the one whose aid I seek against his desertion.
God helps me bear the agony of our parting.
فالنّحلُso the bees يشتارُgather شهداُhoney منfrom مُقبّلهِhis lips

Bees seek honey from his lips, their goal,
And the sun borrows light from his countenance.
The sun borrows light from his radiant face.
