تَهَنَّ بِهِ فَطالِعُهُ سَعيدُ

تَهَنَّ بِهِ فَطالِعُهُ سَعيدُ

وَها قَد جاءَكَ العِزّ الجَديدُ

وَها قَد جاءَكَ العِزّ الجَديدُ

Take delight in it, for its rising star is auspicious.

He took delight in it, so its omens are auspicious,

And behold, new glory has come to you.

And here is the new glory that has come to you.

ضَمانٌ أَن أَراكَ عَلى مُرادي

ضَمانٌ أَن أَراكَ عَلى مُرادي

عَلى الأَيّامِ وَهوَ كَما تُريدُ

عَلى الأَيّامِ وَهوَ كَما تُريدُ

An assurance that I shall see you as I wish,

It is guaranteed that I will see you as I wish,

Throughout the days, and it is as you desire.

In the days to come, and it will be just as you want.

فَيا لِلَّهِ بُستاناً أَرانا

فَيا لِلَّهِ بُستاناً أَرانا

مَغاني الشِعب أَنتَ بِهِ العَميد

مَغاني الشِعب أَنتَ بِهِ العَميد

So, by God, what a garden! It has shown us

By God, a garden we saw,

The ravine’s haunts, where you are the chief,

You are the pillar of the people's joy in it.

وَدارَ مَسَرَّةٍ وَرياضَ أُنسٍ

وَدارَ مَسَرَّةٍ وَرياضَ أُنسٍ

كَما حَلىّ لآلي العقد جيدُ

كَما حَلىّ لآلي العقد جيدُ

And a house of joy and gardens of companionship,

A house of delight and meadows of intimacy,

Just as a neck adorns the necklace’s pearls.

Like the fine necklaces that adorn the beautiful maidens.

تَميسُ بِهِ الغُصون كأن سَقاها

تَميسُ بِهِ الغُصون كأن سَقاها

مِنَ الدولابِ مُسطارٌ شَديدُ

مِنَ الدولابِ مُسطارٌ شَديدُ

The branches sway gracefully within it, as though watered

The branches in it are watered as if

With strong young wine from the waterwheel.

By a pouring rain, heavy and abundant.

وَغَنّى طائِرُ الأَفراحِ فيهِ

وَغَنّى طائِرُ الأَفراحِ فيهِ

وَرَجَّعَ فالغُصونُ لَهُ تَميدُ

وَرَجَّعَ فالغُصونُ لَهُ تَميدُ

And the bird of joys sang within it,

And the bird of joy sings in it,

And trilled, so the branches swayed to its song.

While the branches sway gently for it.

فَقُلنا سَمّشه واِمدَح بِحَقِّ

فَقُلنا سَمّشه واِمدَح بِحَقِّ

وَأرِّخ قالَ بُستانٌ سَعيد

وَأرِّخ قالَ بُستانٌ سَعيد

So we said, “Name it [uncertain reading], and praise it justly,

So we said, mark it as auspicious and praise it sincerely,

And record its date.” He said, “A Fortunate Garden.”

And date it: “A Garden of Joy”.
