فَقِف راحِماً داعياً ذا اِعتِبار
Such is its way: it has no constancy.
Such is her nature, she knows no peace
So pause with compassion, praying and taking heed
So stop, show mercy, be reasonable

وَأَضحى عَنِ الأَهلِ نائي الديار
Of him whom the stone slabs enfolded in the tomb,
For he who lies in the metallic grave
And who now dwells far from his family—
Far from his family and homeland

Ṣamīda, the pride of Banu ʿAmir—
The pillar of the glorious Bani Amer
And have they any glory after him?
What pride have they left?

In the goodness of his character

The foremost in the assemblies nay their elite
Whenever he sat with knees drawn up, robed in dignity.
When robed in dignity he rose to speak

And he was devoted to the shaykh of the shrine,
Lover of the master spiritual guide
And among the chosen followers of this path.
Of the folk of this path, the very best

Martyrdom came to take him
To the finest impregnable refuge and neighbor.
To the blessed shelter, safe and sound

So he answered the call to eternity in a garden,
He answered the call to eternal bliss
His [heart] at peace in the sweetness of repose.
In a garden of delights and sweet repose

And he has settled in this exalted station;
And he has come to rest in this lofty place
So date his passing: “This nearness is enough for me.”
So I dated it, may this neighborhood endure
