لَكَ الحَمدُ المُكَرَّرُ وَالموالي

لَكَ الحَمدُ المُكَرَّرُ وَالموالي

عَلى أَن كُنتَ لي بَرّا حَفيّا

عَلى أَن كُنتَ لي بَرّا حَفيّا

To you be praise, repeated and unceasing,

All praise oft-repeated and ongoing,

For having been kind and attentive to me.

is due you for being so kind and keen to me.

مَنَنتَ بِذا بِلا طَلَبٍ وَحَسبي

مَنَنتَ بِذا بِلا طَلَبٍ وَحَسبي

وَشُكرُكَ واجِبٌ فَرضٌ عَليّا

وَشُكرُكَ واجِبٌ فَرضٌ عَليّا

You bestowed this unasked, and it is enough for me;

You have favoured me without being asked; my own worth is enough for me.

And thanking you is a duty, an obligation upon me.

Giving you thanks is an obligation and duty upon me.

وَلَكِن حاجَةٌ في النَفسِ أَرجو

وَلَكِن حاجَةٌ في النَفسِ أَرجو

تُيَسِّرُها بِلا تَعَبٍ إِلَيّا

تُيَسِّرُها بِلا تَعَبٍ إِلَيّا

But there is a need within my soul; I hope

Yet I have a need in my soul that I hope

You will make it easy for me without hardship,

you will make easy without any trouble for me,

مَعَ الإِسعادِ في الأُخرى وَهَذا

مَعَ الإِسعادِ في الأُخرى وَهَذا

وَذا طَلَبٌ مَدَدتُ بِهِ يَدَيّا

وَذا طَلَبٌ مَدَدتُ بِهِ يَدَيّا

Along with bliss in the hereafter—and this

along with making me happy in other ways. This

And that form a plea for which I have stretched out my hands.

and that is a request I stretch out my hands with to you.

وَفي الأَمثال مَن أَعطى يُتَمِّم

وَفي الأَمثال مَن أَعطى يُتَمِّم

فَأتمِم يا كَريمُ وَكُن وَليّا

فَأتمِم يا كَريمُ وَكُن وَليّا

And, as the proverbs say, whoever gives completes the gift.

And in proverbs, he who gives will make complete,

So complete it, O Generous One, and be my protector.

so make complete O generous one, and be my guardian.
