1. ومولى أمتنا داءهُ تىحت جنبه

    فلسنا نجازيه ولسنا نعاقبهُ

    And a kinsman—we have put his sickness to death beneath his side;

    So we neither repay him nor punish him.

  2. رأى اللَه أعطاني وأغلَق صدرهُ

    على حَسَد الإخوان فازور جانبهُ

    He saw that God had favored me, and closed his breast

    Upon envy of his brothers; then his side turned away.

  3. فويلٌ لهذا ثم ويلٌ لأمه

    علينا إذا ما حَركَتهُ حواربهُ

    So woe to this man, then woe to his mother,

    Whenever his hostile urges stir him against us.
