You see a man brought to tears by one who died before him;

One sees a man weep for another who died before him

And the death of the one who weeps for him is near.

يحبّ الفتى المال الجزيل وإنما

يحبّ الفتى المال الجزيل وإنما

لنفس الفتى ممّا حواه نصيبُ

لنفس الفتى ممّا حواه نصيبُ

A young man loves abundant wealth, but only

The young man loves abundant wealth but

A share of what he has amassed belongs to the young man himself.

For himself, only what is allotted is his share
