من صام فيما مضى كانون مقتدرا

من صام فيما مضى كانون مقتدرا

على الصيام فلا حر ولا طول

على الصيام فلا حر ولا طول

Whoever once fasted in Kanun, able

Who fasted in January with fortitude

To fast, with neither heat nor long days,

Can bear the fast, no matter the heat or length

وعاش أولاه حرّا في تقلّبه

وعاش أولاه حرّا في تقلّبه

وطول أيّامه آب وايلول

وطول أيّامه آب وايلول

And lived on, was granted heat as time turned,

And lived the start of it in the heat’s caprice

And length of days, by Ab and Aylul.

With days as long as August and September
