دة بعد الإخوان والأصحاب

They reproached me for my seclusion and soli-

They blame me for my solitude and loneliness

After brothers and friends

قلت لا تكثروا عليّ فإنّي

قلت لا تكثروا عليّ فإنّي

لا أرى غير باخل مرتاب

لا أرى غير باخل مرتاب

I said, "Do not heap reproaches on me, for I

I said do not blame me, for I

see none but a distrustful miser."

See no one but a miserable doubter

غيب الموت من أحب وأهوى

غيب الموت من أحب وأهوى

من ذوي المكرمات تحت التراب

من ذوي المكرمات تحت التراب

Death has hidden those I love and cherish,

Death has taken those I loved and adored

those of noble deeds, beneath the dust.

Honorable people now under the soil

ونشا بعدهم أناس ولكن

ونشا بعدهم أناس ولكن

حصلت فيهم نفوس الكلاب

حصلت فيهم نفوس الكلاب

And after them people arose, and yet

And people arose after them, but

within them dwelt the souls of dogs.

I found in them the souls of dogs
