على عمش العينين أين تريد

So, O seeker, while the night is dark,

O young man, though the night be dark,

With both eyes bleary, where are you bound?

Whither do you steer your sightless eyes?

تريد الذي أعيي البريّة نيله

تريد الذي أعيي البريّة نيله

ومطلب ما لا يستطاع شديد

ومطلب ما لا يستطاع شديد

You seek what humankind has been unable to attain,

You seek what the wilderness cannot yield,

And seeking what cannot be achieved is arduous.

A hopeless quest of fierce desire.
