O you who exalted the Christians through one of their own kind,

O you who honored the Christians through one of their kind

Yahya ibn Ishaq, after humiliation and war,

John son of Isaac after humiliation and war

اغضب لدينك وامنع من تهضّمهِ

اغضب لدينك وامنع من تهضّمهِ

فقد هوى كلّه للويل والعطب

فقد هوى كلّه للويل والعطب

Be angry for your faith, and prevent its abasement;

Be angry for your religion and prevent those who would abuse it

For it has fallen wholly into woe and ruin.

For all of it has fallen into misery and ruin

وابعث له عادلا ترضى خلائقهُ

وابعث له عادلا ترضى خلائقهُ

من خالص الترك أو من سائر العرب

من خالص الترك أو من سائر العرب

And send it a just man whose character you approve,

And send to it a just leader whom all people would be satisfied with

From the pure-blooded Turks or from among all the Arabs.

One of pure Turkish origin or from the rest of the Arabs
