    O my room, if ever a room could speak,

    then tell them about me, after I am gone, when they come,

    and when they have carried to the dust

    my body, and if they return after burying it,

    فالنفس يبطل ظنّها النظر

    tell what you saw the evidence of;

    for sight dispels the soul’s suspicions.

    By God, within its bounds I never uncovered

    the private parts of any female or male.

    مالي لى ذي عورة وطار

    And indeed, I once lived in you, full of mirth;

    I had no desire for anyone’s nakedness [apparent sense; wording unclear].

    So if they suspect me and you give no account,

    then God—there is no refuge besides Him—

    is my witness within their consciences.

    Truly vile is what they said and mentioned.
