ماnot أنتyou متّهماًaccused قلtell ليto me منwhom اتهِمI should accuse
O apportioner of sustenance, why have the allotted shares passed me by?
O Qasim, though my share of sustenance escaped me
I do not accuse you; tell me whom I should accuse.
You are not to blame, tell me who should I blame?
إنif كانis نحميmy star (likely نجمي) نحساill-omened أنتyou تُسعدهُyou make it auspicious
فأنتso you فيin الحالتينboth cases الخصمthe adversary والحكمand the judge
If my star is ill-omened, you make it auspicious.
If it's my bad luck that brought me anguish
So in both cases, you are the adversary and the judge.
Then in both cases you're the opponent and judge

You gave me wisdom, but you gave me no silver.
You have given me wisdom but not means
Tell me: without silver, what good is wisdom?
Tell me, without means how can wisdom benefit?

ولاand do not تكلنيyou entrust me إلىto منone whose شخصهhis person صنمُan idol
Take a share of my knowledge and give me silver.
Take a portion of my knowledge and give me means
And do not entrust me to one whose person is an idol.
And do not leave me to one whose being is an idol
