ممّن هويت وإغباقٌ إلى رفث
Never has my heart mingled love for anyone
My heart has never desired anyone
Among those I have loved with evening drinking that leads to lewdness.
Of those I've loved, though yearning drags me down

I love the beautiful, and I love to converse with them.
I love the sailors and love to talk with them
And I incline neither to sinfulness nor to wickedness.
No inclination have I towards vice or filth

My heart delights in fair-skinned beauties, just as
My heart is soothed by pretty white faces, just as
I love all women of coy charm and languorous softness.
I love all tender and delicate souls

I have no share in them that leads to defilement
None of them invite me to what would defile
Of religion; there is only teasing and play.
Religion, only foolishness and vain pursuit
