ح وما يخاطبهم لساني

My eyes graze among the beau-

My eyes roam in the night

ties, yet my tongue does not address them.

Though my tongue does not speak to them

لكنّني أنظرُهُم

لكنّني أنظرُهُم

أبداً لأرتكب المعاني

أبداً لأرتكب المعاني

But I gaze upon them

But I do look upon them

Always, to venture into meanings.

Never to commit any indiscretions

أرميهم بلواحظي

أرميهم بلواحظي

وأمرّ منصرفا لشاني

وأمرّ منصرفا لشاني

I shoot at them with my glances

I cast at them my glances

And pass by, turning away to my own affairs.

And pass by going about my own affairs
