كم من حبيب بلا دلّ ولا ملق

كم من حبيب بلا دلّ ولا ملق

وكم أخي ملق في حالِ مبغوض

وكم أخي ملق في حالِ مبغوض

Many a person is loved without coquettish charm or flattery.

How many a lover with no guide nor friend,

And many a flatterer is hated.

And how many a brother is met with malice.

كم واضع نفسه والله يرفعه

كم واضع نفسه والله يرفعه

ورافع نفسه في حال مخفوض

ورافع نفسه في حال مخفوض

Many a man lowers himself, and God raises him.

How many humble themselves yet God raises,

And one who raises himself is brought low.

And vain exalt themselves yet God abases.

ما يصنع الله خيرٌ من صنائعنا

ما يصنع الله خيرٌ من صنائعنا

سلم إلى الله عن عجز وتفويض

سلم إلى الله عن عجز وتفويض

What God does is better than our deeds.

What Allah does is better than our deeds,

Submit to God out of helplessness, entrusting your affairs to Him.

Surrender to Allah from weakness and release.
