It is not to carry news that birds set out from a land
far away, swiftly, without delay, toward another land.
لكنrather يطيرflies بهاwith them والطيرwhile the birds غافلةunaware
لكن يطير بها والطير غافلة
فرطintensity الحنينof longing إلىfor الأوكارthe nests والحشددand the flocks (apparent misspelling)
فرط الحنين إلى الأوكار والحشدد
Rather, what makes them fly, though the birds are unaware,
is intense longing for the nests and flocks.
هذاthis عجيبstrange تحنّyearn الطيرthe birds وهيwhile they شداsinging (unclear form)
هذا عجيب تحنّ الطير وهي شدا
ولاand not أحنّI yearn بتحصيليwith my understanding إلىfor أحدanyone
ولا أحنّ بتحصيلي إلى أحد
How strange: the birds yearn while singing [wording uncertain],
yet I, with my understanding, yearn for no one.
