إن الحسود ليبدي

إن الحسود ليبدي

من فعله ما يعرّه

Indeed, the envious man surely reveals

through his conduct what disgraces him.

يفوته منك شرّ

يفوته منك شرّ

ولا يفوتك شرّه

ولا يفوتك شرّه

Harm from you passes him by,

but his harm does not pass you by.

كم مبغض لي ومالي

كم مبغض لي ومالي

إليه ذنب يضرّه

إليه ذنب يضرّه

Many a man hates me, though I have committed no

offense against him that harms him,

إلا السلامة ممّا

إلا السلامة ممّا

يضرّني ويسرّه

يضرّني ويسرّه

except being spared what

harms me and delights him.
