لو حصّل الناس ما أحصّله

لو حصّل الناس ما أحصّله

ما تم للمرء ما يؤمّله

ما تم للمرء ما يؤمّله

If people grasped what I grasp,

If people gained what I have gained

no person would attain what he hopes for.

A man's hopes would not be attained

حصّلت أمر الزمان عن فطن

حصّلت أمر الزمان عن فطن

له مقام يعيبه أوله

له مقام يعيبه أوله

Through insight, I have fathomed the nature of time;

I gained wisdom of time with insight

its standing is marred by its beginning.

It has a status, the first of which would shame it

لو عاش بقراط سرّني ورأى

لو عاش بقراط سرّني ورأى

منّي في فضله تفضلّه

منّي في فضله تفضلّه

Were Hippocrates alive, he would gladden me and see

If Hippocrates lived, he would be delighted with me

in me, through his excellence, his own graciousness.

And graciously look upon me as superior in merit
