وأني مقهور وأنك قاهر

وأنيَ مأمور وأنت أمير

وأنيَ مأمور وأنت أمير

and that I am subdued and you are the one who subdues,

And that I am subdued while you are the subduer,

and that I am under orders and you are the commander,

And that I am the commanded while you are the commander,

وأنك راض بالذي بي في الهوى

وأنك راض بالذي بي في الهوى

فكلّ كبير في هواك صغير

فكلّ كبير في هواك صغير

and that you are pleased with what I suffer in love,

And that you are pleased with what has befallen me in love,

then all that is great is small in my love for you.

Then every great thing in your love becomes small.
