كم فرصة أمكنت فثبّطني
عنهاfrom it الونىsloth عنّcame to mind ليto me ببعدwith 'after' غدtomorrow
عنها الونى عنّ لي ببعد غد
How many a chance became available, yet I was held back
From it by sloth, which suggested to me 'the day after tomorrow.'
وقمتand I rose مستدركاseeking to recover فوائتهاwhat was missed of it
وقمت مستدركا فوائتها
ففتّتso shattered الفوتthe loss بالونىthrough sloth كبديmy liver
ففتّت الفوت بالونى كبدي
And I rose to recover what I had missed of it,
So loss through sloth shattered my liver.
وكنتand I was بالعجزthrough helplessness عنwith regard to فوائتهاwhat was missed of it
وكنت بالعجز عن فوائتها
بعدafter التوانيprocrastination احقّmore deserving بالكمدof grief
بعد التواني احقّ بالكمد
And, unable to recover what I had missed of it, I was
After procrastinating, all the more deserving of grief.
