وأعلم في المنام بكل خير

وأعلم في المنام بكل خير

فأصبح لا أراه ولا يراني

And in dreams I learn of every good thing,

In dreams I know of every blessing,

But come morning, I do not see it, nor does it see me.

Then wake to find it lost, beyond retrieving,

وإن أبصرت شرّا في منامي

وإن أبصرت شرّا في منامي

لقيت الشر من قبل الأذان

لقيت الشر من قبل الأذان

And if I see evil in my dream,

And when in dreams misfortune I am guessing,

I encounter that evil before the call to prayer.

Before the dawn misfortune comes a-grieving.
