وفي الثقيل وإن ساءتك طلعته

وفي الثقيل وإن ساءتك طلعته

ثنتان من نعمةٍ لله في البشر

ثنتان من نعمةٍ لله في البشر

And in a bore, though his appearance displeases you,

Even when misfortune weighs you down,

are two of God's blessings to humankind:

Two blessings are bestowed by God on humankind-

يثني هواك على من كنت تبغضه

يثني هواك على من كنت تبغضه

وتحمد الله إن ولى على الأثر

وتحمد الله إن ولى على الأثر

he turns your affection toward someone you once hated,

Your hatred turns to love for those you spurned before,

and you thank God as soon as he departs.

And you give thanks to God though danger looms behind
